So we're going to get all the "stock" apps that people download: Chrome, Firefox, GIMP, Steam, GOG, etc. This means that Adobe could put the Creative Cloud app in the Store with little to no additional dev work. Starting soon (this fall?) the MSFT Store will allow any developer to submit an app coded in anything (as long as it works). That's not going to happen - especially since they'd lose a % of their revenue to MSFT whereas they currently get 100%. The big takeaway is that companies have large, monolithic apps that would require their devs learning new languages or hiring all new talent to port into UWP. That is how you get Windows 7 UI apps in Windows 10. Not only for the UI elements, but it would give MS control over those UI elements and MS could update them as design language changes. Windows' - most of the time it would be solved if everyone moved to UWPs.
